Report 2024
What we have done in 2024
Much of 2024 revolves around setting up and publicising ATLAS Critical Tourism Studies-Asia Pacific Conference. It is our flagship event and happens every two years. We had liaised and worked with out local host, Hainan University, China this year, nominated and enrolled keynote speakers, special tracks and launched our publicity campaign. So far around 130 abstracts have been submitted and we are expecting the number to rise a little as special track submissions get accounted for.
Organising the conference has allowed us to bring the ATLAS Brand and network into areas where we used to have a smaller presence – China and previously Vietnam and the region at large.
What we plan to do in 2025
To launch the conference and to plan for follow-up activities. These can include smaller sessions and meetings in Macao and other Chinese cities with SIGs or independently.
We are also planning to have an Asia Chapter or Critical Tourism Studies-Asia Pacific track in the ATLAS Annual Conference in 2025.
