Report 2026

The 2025 edition of the ATLAS Latin America conference took place on November 27-28 at the Universidad Externado de Colombia, in Bogotá, Colombia. The topic was “Trends and challenges for approaching tourism in the global and local context”. It welcomed four keynote speakers and 84 papers were presented. The papers discussed a wide range of relevant trends in the region including community-based tourism, cultural and heritage toruism, post-conflict recovery, creative cities, National Parks, smart tourism, gastronomy, and sustainability. The plan for the future is to organise the next ATLAS Latin America conference in 2027 and beyond. A call has been issued and interested institutions are Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral and Universidad Externado de Colmbia. We are working closely with them to prepare the next steps.
